Physical property testing covers metrics such as breaking strength, elongation at break, evenness, twist, and hairiness index. Breaking strength-typically measured using a single-yarn strength tester-determines whether the yarn can withstand weaving tension. Evenness reflects the consistency of the yarn's thickness, directly influencing the visual quality of the fabric. Hairiness testing assesses surface smoothness; excessive hairiness can impair loom efficiency and affect the hand-feel of the finished product. Together, these indicators determine the yarn's processability and durability.
Chemical safety testing focuses on parameters such as formaldehyde content, pH value, azo dyes, and heavy metal residues. These tests are usually conducted in accordance with international textile standards-such as the OEKO-TEX system-to ensure the yarn poses no health risks upon skin contact. Color fastness is also tested (covering resistance to washing, rubbing, and perspiration) to guarantee consistent product performance during use.
Environmental compliance testing focuses on verifying the proportion of recycled content and supply chain traceability, such as adherence to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). Assessments include reviewing raw material sources, environmental records from the production process, and waste management practices. Certain export products must also meet international environmental regulations, such as REACH. Through this systematic testing, eco-friendly yarns are confirmed to meet performance standards while demonstrating authentic and certifiable environmental credentials.
