When storing eco-friendly yarns, key factors to consider include hygroscopicity, stability, and the environmental resilience of the specific fibers, as improper storage conditions can compromise yarn strength, color, and subsequent processing performance.

 

The storage environment should be kept dry, well-ventilated, and clean. Excessive humidity can cause natural eco-friendly yarns (such as organic cotton or Tencel) to develop mold, yellowing, or reduced strength; while recycled polyester is relatively stable, prolonged exposure to damp conditions can still affect its surface properties. Therefore, it is generally recommended to maintain humidity within a reasonable range and avoid direct contact with the floor-using pallets or shelving units for separation when necessary.

 

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and high temperatures must be avoided. Ultraviolet (UV) rays accelerate fiber aging, leading to a loss of elasticity or color fading-issues to which dyed eco-friendly yarns are particularly susceptible. Consequently, warehouses should prevent strong, direct light and maintain a stable temperature, keeping stock away from heat sources or high-temperature equipment. Additionally, yarns from different batches or with varying ratios of recycled content should be stored separately to minimize the risk of batch mixing and color discrepancies.

 

Storage should be organized and orderly, avoiding excessive compression or heavy loads that could cause yarn deformation or irreversible structural damage. Using sealed or dust-proof packaging effectively minimizes the accumulation of contaminants, while regular inventory checks help prevent issues related to moisture or pest infestation. Proper storage practices not only preserve the performance stability of eco-friendly yarns but also facilitate smooth downstream textile processing.
